Part Marking Processes:

  • Part Marking (Rubber Stamp)
    • Fundamental method of applying part number, revision, S/N, cage code, etc.
    • Marking material is typically a contrasting ink or paint defined in the engineering drawing
    • Common specification: MIL-STD-130
  • Screen Printing (Silkscreen)
    • Commonly referred to as Silk Screening
    • A precision method of applying alpha / numeric symbology by forcing ink or paint through a screen
    • Screen requires artwork and true positioning per engineering drawing
    • Common Specification: MIL-STD-130
  • Electrochemical Etch
    • Low stress permanent mark made with DC current, electrolyte, and stencil.
    • Marking depth is usually .00005” – .001”
    • Parts may be marked pre- or post- process depending on process sequence
    • Common Specification: MIL-STD-130
  • Stenciling
    • A template made of various materials used to stop-off paint, ink or other media.
    • Silkscreen is a type of stencil
    • Common Specification: MIL-STD-130
  • Paint Filling of Characters
    • Precision machined engraving / embossing of alpha / numeric symbology filled with a contrasting ink or paint
    • Common Specification: MIL-STD-130
